Afghan. these carpets are made by Afghan nomads in the Khoresan area (from the town of Meshed). They use horizontal primitive looms and weave various sized carpets. The pile is often sheep wool dyed into a brick red or blue color but they also use camel hair in brown and goat hair from the edges. The warp is often of wool.
